About Kathleen

Hi! My name is Kathie Clohessy, and I’m the owner of Verandah Pet Care. A retired pediatric oncology nurse, I have been a resident of the Verandah community since 2019 and pet-sitting here since 2021. Before coming to Verandah, I spent three years on the beautiful island of Maui, Hawaii, where I volunteered at the Maui Humane Society, the only open-admission animal shelter on the island. During my tenure there, I worked in the high-volume spay and neuter clinic assisting in the preparation and recovery of both owned and feral cats. I also assisted with the popular Beach Buddies program and helped support the shelter’s cat adoption partnership with PetCo.

A lifelong pet lover, I came to Florida with my 15-year-old shih-tzu, Joey, who, sadly, passed away shortly after our arrival. After his death I adopted Moana, an adorable shih-tzu/chihuahua mix, from Gulf Coast Humane Society. We have been happily living on Cottonwood Bend ever since. I also have two adorable cats, Mushroom, a sweet 4-year old, polydactyl ginger, and Olive, a 1 year-old stub-tailed, calico Manx. When I am away from home caring for your pets, my brother Michael, cares for our fur babies in our home.
